NEWPORT, NC — We are proud to present the 32nd Annual Pig Cookin’ Contest at the Newport Town Park on April 9th and April 10th, 2010 in Newport, NC. This is the Largest Whole Hog Pig Cooking Contest in the U.S.A. This event takes place the first weekend in April each year except when Easter falls on that weekend . The Newport Pig Cookin’ Contest Organization raises money to help Non-Profit Organizations fund projects that are not covered by normal operating expenses or when funding is not available. Between 10,000 and 15,000 people attend this festival each year. Newport Pig Cookin’ Contest offers Down Home Eastern Style BBQ cooked by the best cooks in the U.S.A. Cooks come from all over to compete in this event and have bragging rights that come with winning this contest. This wonderful event invites you to join us for two days of fun, food and springtime celebrations. The festivities include concession stands, rides, crafts, bake sales, funnel cakes, music, live entertainment, souvenirs and so much more!
Festival PhotoThe purpose for the Newport Pig Cookin’ Contest is to raise money for various organizations in our community. The recipients include sport teams, school booster groups, churches, scout groups and other non-profit groups in our area. We have donated a total of $701,792.00 to the community and non-profit organizations with the support of our volunteers and our generous sponsors. None of this could be accomplished without the dedication and support from the volunteers. It takes months of planning and preparation to put this Festival on each year and all help is welcome and appreciated . Besides volunteering you can also be a part of the Newport Pig Cookin’ through our Sponsorship Program. The Sponsorships include: $2,000.00 Platinum Sponsor, $1500.00 Gold Sponsor, $1000.00 Silver Sponsor, $750.00 Bronze Sponsor, $500.00 Sponsor, $300.00 Sponsor and $150.00 Sponsor.
