CHARLOTTE — Since 1964, Festival in the Park has been bringing good music, good art and good times to Charlotteans and visitors from around the world. This year the festival will be held on September 20-22, 2013 and is designed to promote and stimulate interest in the arts. It provides the opportunity for all to see, hear, and learn from over 180 artists and crafts people who actively demonstrate and display their art.
Festival in the Park was selected as one of Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Events for the month of September 2012! In past years, Festival in the Park has also been chosen as one of Sunshine Artists Magazine's 200 BEST festivals.
Historically, Festival in the Park visitors typically exceeds 165,000 (attendance in 2012) visitors each year.
Nearly a thousand entertainers provide free ongoing performances at the main band shell and many stages surrounding it, including the Main Stage, Charlotte Folk Society, Carolina Clowns, Magician, Youth and Variety Stage and Jazz Arts Stage. Additionally the Family Fun Zone offers many rides including an inflatable obstacle course, ferris wheel and trackless train. Guests may enjoy exhibits, storytelling, cloggers, performances with an array of instruments and dances and much more.
