Sumter Iris Festival

SUMTER, SC — The Iris Festival is one of South Carolina's oldest continuous celebrations, consistently ranked among the top festivals in the Southeast, and a multiple winner of both the Southeast Tourism Society’s “Top 20 in the Southeast” and the American Bus Association’s “Top Events.”

Swan Lake Iris Gardens, located at 822 West Liberty Street, is home to all eight of the world's swan species, including birds from Asia, Australia, England and South America. Late May is the peak bloom season for the gardens’ renowned Japanese iris, including more than 120 varieties.

This year’s event will be held on May 27-29, 2016, and features live entertainment, an arts and crafts show, a nighttime parade, a flower show, fine arts, a plant sale and gardening tips, car shows, a FREE children’s area with games and rides, food vendors featuring a wide variety of delectable treats, and much more. To celebrate a vital part of the Sumter community, an interactive display will be set up to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Shaw Air Force Base.

The fun begins the evening before the festival, on May 26, with the annual Crowning of the King & Queen followed by the Taste at the Gardens, featuring great music and great food from some of the area's leading restaurants and caterers. Don't miss out on the fun this May!
