John Blue Cotton Festival

LAURINBURG, NC—This year’s John Blue Cotton Festival is going to be a stellar festival. It celebrates 34 fun-filled years of operation October 14-15, 2017. While here in Scotland County enjoy the beauty and history of North Carolina’s Sandhill's gem

New additions to the festival are a recently restored genuine log cabin tobacco curing barn and an operating sawmill from the past. Festival goers can view a mule-powered cotton gin in action, an old-timey General Store as well as tour the turn-of-the-century John Blue House and museum across the street.

Vendors offer an array of handmade crafts as well as scrumptious food items, like bloomin’ onions, funnel cakes, ice cream churned on the premises. Don’t miss a real southern delicacy—collard sandwiches from several vendors on-site.

The outdoor stage offers performances by local and regional music groups, dancers, and roaming entertainment. Visit with the antique engine, tractor and farm equipment demonstrators on the backside of the festival. Kids and adults alike will enjoy the old-timey games, hay rides, Cotton Blossom train rides and the museum.

Getting to the festival is easy: US 15-401, US 501, NC/SC 79, and US 74/I74 all go straight through town.
